Is Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, the new Malcolm X? If I was asked this question as it relates to Black people, then I would have to answer “Yes”…
Why do we now think that Kanye West doesn’t care about Black people himself?…
In my opinion, Ye has displayed at least some concern for the plight of Black Americans since the beginning of his career…
The basis of my judgment…
I have no special attachment to Ye; I grew up like most people my age listening to his music, but I have never been to a Kanye West concert or purchased a pair of Yeezys. Honestly, I have been so shut off from music because of the message that I feel like it presents, I haven’t even listened to a full Kanye West album since College Dropout. I can only stomach FREE BISON in large doses these days…
My current opinion of Ye is based solely on the message he is spreading in interviews, the risk he’s taking, and his representation in mass media from the perspective of a person looking to change the current situation for Blacks in this society for the better…

Malcolm X’s and Ye’s message is the same that there is a top group of people controlling the masses for the sake of the article, I will say that Black people specifically are being controlled by other groups. They both questioned the popular black movements of their era; Malcolm X openly challenged the whole concept of civil rights and questioned the use of funds collected for the March on Washington, and he sat opposed to their concept of integrating & Ye has similar issues with Black Lives Matter…

Next, both Malcolm X and Ye took great personal risks spreading their message to the Black masses, even though a large part of the masses was not open to it. Contrary to popular belief, a large portion of black Americans disagreed with Malcolm X at the time, yet he risked his life to spread a message that he felt was important. I’m not sure if Ye’s life is in danger. It very well could be, but I’m not willing to say that it is, but his ability to do business freely surely is, so maybe not his life but his livelihood is definitely in tremendous danger. We are currently watching banks turn away his money and media outlets remove his interviews, not because he called for the death of anyone, but because he has some opposing views and questioned the control of the media…

It makes you think, what’s all the money in the world if the people with the resources won’t take it from you?…

The last point I’d like to compare is the representation of these two figures in the media. In his time, Malcolm X was viewed as crazy, they often pointed to the “white man is the devil” aspect of his religion to bolster this point. They also said his views were radical and that he preached antisemitism. Ye is currently being diagnosed by most media outlets as a madman with radical and antisemitic views…

Ye has compared himself to many people, but is he comparable to one of the most revered leaders in the black revolution, Malcolm X?…

But as a huge Malcolm X fan, I can only imagine what he would have achieved with just 1 billion dollars, let alone multiple billions. Where would black Americans be now?
